Claude startup program rejected: likely reasons and fixes
Read this first: Anthropic does not publish its rejection reasons. Everything below is our inference from the published eligibility rules, not official guidance.
Most applications are decided within minutes, and some go to manual review taking 2–3 business days. If yours did not go through, check these against the published rules.
Possible mismatches with the published rules
| Published requirement | What could go wrong | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Founded in the last 5 years or funded in the last 2 | Company is older and has no recent funding round | Your incorporation date and last funding date |
| Company email matching your website's domain | You applied with a personal address, or the email domain differs from the website domain | Apply from an address on your own domain |
| Claude Console account | You used a Claude chat account rather than a Console (API) account | Sign in at the Console, not the chat app |
| Short description of what you are building | The description is vague or does not describe a product | Write two or three concrete sentences about the product and how it uses Claude |
| Compliance with supportability policies | The use case conflicts with Anthropic's usage policies | Read the policies and compare them with your use case |
| Website | Domain is empty, parked or does not show a real product | Make sure the site is live and explains the product |
If you are in manual review
The official page says manual review usually takes 2–3 business days. Wait that long before assuming a rejection.
